Party Petitions CJN Over Bayelsa Assembly

THE African Democratic Congress (ADC) has petitioned the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and President of the Court of Appeal over the alleged attempt by Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson and the Appeal Court, Port Harcourt Division “who have constituted themselves into supra-Gods in an attempt to thwart the course of justice, following the governor’s refusal to allow the Acting

Speaker of the state House of Assembly to swear in Ogbara Gabriel of ADC and the appellate court’s resort to retry and reverse a judgment, which was earlier given in favour of Ogbara on December 9, last year.”
The party alleged that the governor has induced the court to retry the case for which it has already given the final judgment.
According to a statement signed by its National Chairman, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu, and National Secretary, Alhaji Said Baba Abdullahi, made available to The Guardian, the party alleged: “The governor and his co-conspirators have re-opened the case. They served Ogbara with another summon from the same court on Monday to appear on Wednesday.
“They boasted that the judgment will be reversed this week, so that the PDP candidate will not vacate his seat, despite the fact that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the Certificate of Return to Ogbara.”
