President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his administration’s determination to wrestle corruption to the ground remains unshaken.

The President, who gave the assurance in his New Year message to Nigerians, however, said the fight against corruption would be guided by respect for the rule of law and due process.

Contrary to reports, Ibrahim Magu, has not been relieved of his appointment as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the presidency has said.

The Guardian newspaper quoted an unnamed source as saying Mr. Magu had been asked to vacate his seat by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

72year old man arrested for digging out a female dead skull for rituals

                                 

The police in Osun state  has arrested a 72-year-old man, Idris Ajao for being in possession of a human skull. He was nabbed in the process of exhuming one of the corpses buried in the cemetery at about 8pm on Thursday.
He said he had perfected plans to transport the human part to Iwo.

A magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State has ordered the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, to arrest the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, and bring him to court on January 6, 2017.
The magistrate, Olusola Aluko, gave the fresh order on Friday when the case involving the monarch came up for hearing again.

Fake drugs worth Millions burnt by NAFDAC

                            
National Agency for Drugs Administration and Control(NAFDAC) on Thursday in Sokoto destroyed fake, counterfeit, expired and unwholesome regulated products worth over N100.8 million. The acting Director-General of the agency, Mrs Yetunde Oni, led the destruction exercise at Dutsen Babari near Kwannawa, in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of the state.

Oni, who was represented by Dr Musa Umar, Director of Narcotics and Controlled Substances of the agency, stated that the burnt products were seized in Sokoto and Zamfara states.

Buhari signs 17 bills into law in two months

                      
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday signed the Endangered Species (Control of International Trade and Traffic) Amendment Act 2016 into law. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, confirmed this to State House correspondents.

Enang said the bill was one of the 10 bills sent by the National Assembly to the President for assent.


The law brought to 17 such Acts that Buhari has signed into law within two months.
