ASUU: Atiku pleads with union to suspend strike
Former Vice President, VP, Atiku Abubakar has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to suspend its strike action. Speaking during his 70th birthday celebration in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, Atiku said,

President Buhari has inaugurated board members of parastatals in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources on Friday.. Some of the members of the board are the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru.
Others members are Dr. Pius Akinyelure, Alhaji Muhammady Lawal and Dr. Tajudeen Lawal.

19 people were killed on Wednesday on Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway in multiple accidents involving commercial vehicles. The accidents occurred almost concurrently along the major highway on Ezilo axis of Ishielu council area and 135 Ezzamgbo in Ohaukwu council area. Some drivers also died.

The police said the gang had links with a suspect, Zakeria Isiaka arrested recently by the Inspector-General of Police Response Team, along the Okene-Akure Expressway.

President Buhari says crisis in oil sector are responsible for recession

President Buhari has blamed the current recession on the misfortunes of the oil industry. The President made this claim while inaugurating the governing boards of three parastatals of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources: the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation; Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board and the Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Authority, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

2 year old boy burnt to death in Abakaliki

A 2 year-old boy and property worth millions of naira was burnt to nothing at Ekuluobia Street Kpiripiri in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi capital. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fire which started at about 9:50 a.m. on Thursday destroyed 15 rooms.
Items destroyed by the inferno included refrigerators, mattresses, sofa, electronics, documents, among others.
